I'm Michel, pa7ml, and living in Breukelen. The love for radio began when I was about 5 year.
The tube radio from my(large)parents fascinated me. Listening to 'the man in the radio'. E.e.a. was followed by the radio pirates who sent out from the North Sea. Consider the programs of Radio Veronica, Radio Caroline, Radio Londen, Radio Radio Miamigo NOORDZEE. I listened to their program through its own transistor radio that I had bought with the money out of my piggy bank. And do not forget the REM island with the commercial television broadcasting from the North Sea.
To be able to talk on the radio, I bought a radio set with rtv shop. The "walkie talkie" worked to channel 14 with AM in 11 meter band. I knew a lot. Two 27Mhz. was not so busy with pirates. It was still forbidden by the 11 meter band may broadcast. In my experience, everyone had the same name Roger. Now I know better. Because channel 14 the calling channel was fellow pirates could hear us talking in this call frequency. I was invited by a local resident (with the callsign HBS28) come along to experience what it is to a 6 Pony mobile channels to broadcast. Following this visit, I bought myself a 6 Canal Summer Kamp TS 737 transceiver antennas to be on the active 11 meter band. There were at that time pretty 'bakkies' from Asia. Unknown brands 120 channels with all modern fashions out there and looked. At that time I also experimented with all kinds of masts and antennas, (stereo)stations on 11 and 3 meter sent out.
In the seventies the scanners were in advance that you include. to the public and amateur radio could listen. Soon I came in to contact with Gijs, PA0GHU, who lived near me. He told me how licensed radio amateurs worked. He enthused me to the then "D" course at the Utrecht VERON department to follow.
This course was successfully completed by me. A new era broke hobby for me.
No more radiopiraat, but recognized radio amateur. There was of course a 2 meter set be purchased with an antenna. On the roof a lattice mast was placed with a cross-yagi for 2 meters and a beam of 70 cm. The cross-yagi I found it easy because I was able to apply vertically or horizontally. Of 2 meter set was a Kenwood 7200 met extern vfo. Several friends of mine had now also taken their D license. They even went to the former C exam in Jaarbeurshal in Utrecht.
Maar ja, without an amateur radio transmitters or receivers which obviously can not! After years of 'out of hobby time, I could buy one from a friend Icom 211E with a vertical antenna. A little listen and connect ...... Was that scare for .... Peter, PA3CNX. We knew each other from the past. We had a nice conversation with each other at the local home frequency. Renewed and new contacts were easily made.
In 2005/06 I Johan, PA3GER, F course successfully followed. The then D authorization was fun (and especially now with the extended license N), but coveted F license still give me give me more satisfaction.
Local amateurs from Breukelen noticed that a new ham in their village is present. These amateurs called themselves the B.I.G. (Breukelense Interest Group).
I was invited to their annual B.I.G.- live radio. weekend at. I am now actively involved in the fracture Lense radio amateurs who are now called BRA. Which stands for Fracture Lense Radio Amateurs.
From that moment on, I ended up in a cascade of knowledge gathering. Because you again actively participating in a world where technology never stands still, actively participate significantly increase your knowledge. Always new techniques in the field of computer / software and ham radio etc.
Currently I am active with amateur television. Although I do not live in the most ideal location for these high frequencies, but I can be a fun way to connect with regional and ATV relay stations. I think in the short wave amateur frequencies interesting to operate digital modes.
Today I am in possession of a D-Star gear. Several radio friends use this mode / technology. With the current analog repeater on 2meter city can not do it good from the car 5 watts output to achieve through the relay a decent connection. The reception is poor while driving from the Vecht. DV goes perfectly on pi1utr. It has nice features, You can choose reflectors via Gateway. This allows you to chat with fellow amateurs and of course listen for example to the West Coast of the USA. radio active. DV connections on an arbitrary simplex frequency 2/70 works great, both from the shack and from the car. D-Rats and D-Star TV is software that lets you connect fun applications can do with Icom D-Star set in a simplex. I am now active with O.Â. HDSDR met the FunCube Dongle.
